Leadership..

When I started my new job with subsidiary of a PLC, I have been told to build up my leadership skill. My ultimate boss forced me to read few books that she though can help me to change. Those books were so impressed. But when I look at the person who told you to read , ask you to follow and practice, is far from the path that written in the book. I am no longer interested to her recommendations.

Couple of months back, my immediate boss who also my close friend wanted to share one article from newspaper. Since we have been working together from the very beginning and facing a lot of leadership failure, he has introduced me about one article related to leadership. The icon been taken into that article is Dr Jose Morinho. He is currently one of the best football club manager. Last 2 days back my boss gave me copy of that article and the next day i read it in details with full eager to know. Every single word must be clear to me. Finally, I finished with some issue that still playing in my mind. I really want to share and here some good things that i think it will be wonderful to share.

Everyone knows Morinho's ability to turn around any club from good team to the world class. How he did to various group of team? Yes he had PHD in Sport Science he also mentioned that he always pray a lot.Are those character totally can make as guaranty to change without any hardworking job been done?

The answer is definitely no. There a lot basic things for us and we might ignore that but not for him. The first concept is motivated his player, in any reason there will be no yell and scream. Most of the bosses in these days are from Baby Boomers era, yelling and screaming is their favorite and they believe that's the only way people will listen to them. If you just been scolded by your boss in front of colleagues or may worst be with any outsider, could you able to continue your job immediately? Or if you been negotiated or overcome about your weaknesses by your boss, do you think can you perform? The answer must be negotiation and it's only take few minutes to find problem and solution together. Many brain are always better. This will make a team is a team and no one is not prejudice to any party. In our culture, yes we might have meeting either weekly or daily and the time that we spent two hours to eight hours. It sound ridiculous but it happened in the real world. Not even that,the decision being control by the ultimate power in the meeting and it apply to whole organization.

No matter what we are doing, we need concentration or focus even playing we our child.In the article, Morinho mentioned that to win a game, you must focus in winning and the focus period of winning not in 90 minutes. It must be all the time crossing in our mind. Back to us, we might more focus on English Grammar, Talk Behind, Politic Among Employees and many more non sense and wasting time activity instead of Making Profit to where we working for.

"Put a fish on the table". This about table problem and all in the team can share their brain to solve the problem. Most of the old fashioned bosses required to know everything and indeed these people will lost their focus. In any organization, each staff has his or her strength. Push the button at right time is the most function to a boss nowadays. Some bosses said , this is the culture that I brought from our holding company, he/she means that no matter good or in the other side, all subordinate has to follow. It seems like the subordinate doesn't has any experience, education and new ideas to be shared in order to achieve the company goal.

Knows his player closely and deeply. As we knew that Morinho is an arrogant person but not to his player. The relationship among them is too close. He knows his player's wife and children. This situation seems like he is against the rule "work and household must be split". How can we work if our family in trouble? I definitely agree with him since for me staff can't perform if they have big problem keep playing in their mind. To know a player doesn't means a leader has a right to spread the information to public and in the same time this kind of leader will losing respect from his/her subordinates.

Speak their language. He has learned various language , he learned in a high pace . If some peoples say they work hard but in their owned style and capacity, I feel that they are wrong. How to convey your massage if the people who is running the process does not be reached at 100%.

In this life, every one is a leader. May not in the office but must be at home as husband, father, mom, elders child. So it's time to change negative to positive without any emotional or personal issue take place in our process to bring our team to reach the objective. To handle smart people, you have to be smart first."To Catch a Thief You Must Think Like a Thief".
